Our Vision
Purpose Statement
Our purpose is the reason we exist:
“ Loving God, Equipping People, Impacting our World for Christ ”
Loving God
God has created us to have a personal relationship with Him. Jesus said that the Greatest Commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:29-30). Our love for God will be seen in our obedience to Jesus (John 14:15) as we live to please Him. This love for God will overflow from within our hearts and will bring about unity in the church (1 John 4:20-21). Therefore, our faith is primarily relational; firstly with God and then with other people.
Equipping People
God doesn’t want people just to relate to Him. He wants us to live for Him. He has given us everything we need to live a godly life, which pleases Him (2 Peter 1:3). Jesus gives the Church various gifts and ministries to equip His people to do his will (Ephesians 4:11-12).
Impacting our World for Christ
Jesus’ plan for all His disciples is to “go into the world and make disciples” (Matthew 28:18-20). This also fulfils His second Greatest Command to “love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12: 31).
Vision Statement
Our vision is the outworking of our purpose.
Loving God
Out of devotion to Jesus, we will prepare ourselves and allow Holy Spirit to prepare us for His Return when He will come for His Bride, the Church (Revelation 19:7, Ephesians 5:27). We will be a church who will seek God for Himself, and not only for His blessings. Our love and intimacy will grow as we keep Him as our focus. We will seek to worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:23) expecting Him to inhabit our praises and to make His Presence real. Recognising that Elim Christian Fellowship belongs to Jesus, we will be led by His Spirit into His plans for us. He will lead – we will listen and follow.
Equipping People
We will be changed and equipped by Holy Spirit both directly and through His gifts and ministries in the Church. Just as David helped dejected and disillusioned people to become a mighty army in the Cave of Adullam (1 Samuel 22), so Jesus will heal and restore lives, giving us a purpose and a destiny, and enabling us to fulfil that destiny for Him.
The Word of God will be honoured and will determine our lifestyle as we seek to live holy lives. We will be encouraged to exercise our God-given talents, gifts and ministries, and to do so with godly character and attitude.
Impacting our World for Christ
We will see multitudes being brought into God’s Kingdom. There will be many healings – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual – as people are affected by the reality of God’s Presence. We are called to be a Lighthouse, warning people of hidden dangers and guiding them to a safe haven in Christ. We will only be a lighthouse if we walk in the light ourselves and reflect the Light of God in our lives. Most people will remain in Paisley and serve God in the very core of the vision; some will serve on short-term missions here or abroad. Others will be called long-term to nations around the world. Wherever we are, we will share Jesus’ message and love. We will also be blessed by, and be a blessing to, people who come to Paisley from other nations. In these ways we will impact Paisley, our nation and the nations for Christ.
